Blake

The English poet William Blake, born in London in 1757 was a most remarkable and talented man. HIs poetry was extensive and some of it much revered today but he was also a painter and a man of extremely strong views on things like religion and politics. His views flow throughout his work: he was by trade an engraver and he took to engravng most of his literary works and embellishing them with his wonderful drawings and paintings. He was hardly recognised in his day but over time his worth has come to be recognised. This film by Malcolm Hossick explores his life and works and tries to uncover something of his astonishing personality. It is followed by a brief overview of his work.    AM002HD20 2nd edition 2021 dur 38'35
